Meet Eryka: A Story of
Strength, Art, and Hope
E
ryka, a senior at the Savannah
College of Art and Design
(SCAD), has always dreamed of
becoming an artist. But at 15,
she was homeless, and soon after, placed
in Georgia’s foster care system.
Despite setback after setback, including
being kicked out of her first foster home
for bringing a watercolor palette, Eryka
never gave up on her vision for the future
and dreams of being an artist.
While juggling full-time work and full-time
school with just cents in her bank account,
Eryka was introduced to the Fostering
Success Act. Through FSA and her life
coach, she finally found stability—access
to rent, school supplies, transportation,
and the mentorship she needed to thrive.
Today, she’s on the Dean’s List and using
her art to inspire other youth who’ve
experienced foster care.

Your support
allows foster
youth, like
me, to pursue
our dreams
and allow
our aspirations
to become a
reality. I think
that’s a great
use of your
tax dollars.
